Hong Kong Museum of Art is hosting an exhibition “The Pride of Hong Kong: Three Preeminent Collections of Ancient Paintings and Calligraphies.” The three collections are Xubaizhai 虛白齋 of Low Chuck-tiew 劉作籌 (1911-1993), Chih Lo Lou 至樂樓 of Ho Iu-kwong 何耀光 (1907-2006), and Bei Shan Tang 北山堂 of Lee Jung-sen 利榮森 (1915-2007), all built with immense passion, vision, and dedication for Chinese painting and calligraphy. We are delighted to offer our alumni community, students and friends, an exclusive visit on a day when the museum was closed to the public. Assistant Curator Cherie Fong, also alumni, guided us through the show, amusing us with various anecdotes on individual pieces, fascinating collector stories and curatorial highlights. Local artist Yau Wing-fung was also there to share with us the creative process behind his two works shown along with this exhibition.
