It must be destiny that Shirley keeps returning to HKU as it is her third degree when she graduated from the University with a single major in Fine Arts in 2017. Shirley has a long career in marketing before she studied art history full time. It then dawned on her that the story of art and artists should be told to more people especially the young ones. The inception of HKUFAAA to connect our alumni, teachers and supporters comes at the most opportune time when the Department of Fine Arts turns 40.

In the beginning year of HKUFAAA, alumni engagement will be the emphasis of the association. In the long term, she hopes a connected group of alumni could work together to promote the study of art history in the local community.

Nicole chaired the Fine Arts Society and graduated with a single major in Fine Arts. After completing her MPhil degree with Dr. Yeewan Koon, she started working for the Department as Demonstrator, and now heading the team of supporting staff in the Resource Centre. She sees from time to time a mutual desire to connect between the Department and alumni. As the Department enters into its 40th year, she believes it was the perfect moment to turn a vision into reality.
